Riding out ex Tropical Cyclone Lola on anchor

October 29th, 2023

Opunga Cove, Bay of Islands

We have been aware of the approaching low over the last week. Yesterday (Saturday) was a very calm and sunny day. Solar charging topped off batteries by midday.

At sundown the easterly wind picked up averaging mid to high 20 knots gusting up to 50 through the night. I think our location is good we are not seeing all of the prevailing wind. After a long night it was nice to see daylight.

As of 8 am it’s a gloomy morning but raining now so we are collecting some beautiful rainwater to replenish our tanks.

Feeling fortunate to have the excellent shelter and equipment that we are benefiting from.

Cheers from skipper Adam
