Jacks Bay, Bay of Islands, Aotearoa
Log 248 nm
This morning 7:50 am we moved the 1 nm south across Manawaora Bay to get into Jacks Bay where we will find shelter for the SW wind shift due this afternoon.
Assignation Cove proved an excellent anchorage for wind from the north. We were there four days
Vicki up anchored, relocated, and anchored Te Tāiko for her learning/practice and did really well.
We are 240 m off the beach in 4.5 m of water in the eastern part of the bay where there is no mooring field. 2Degrees coverage is 2 out of 4 bars. Wireless Nation broadband coverage seems good.
There are some amazing lichen cloaked pōhutukawa (NZ Christmas Trees) above the eastern rocky headland that I will try to photograph from the tender at golden hour.
The plan for tomorrow is to going sailing out around the islands. Tomorrow is forecast for SE 10 knts - should be a goodie onboard Te Tāiko.
Cheers from Skipper Adam
